Thermal inertia

Cool in summer and warm in winter.
In an Isotex building, the temperature is always constant

inerzia termica

The thermal inertia of a building is its ability to withstand internal changes in temperature, therefore cold in winter and heat in summer. The thermal inertia of an Isotex building is excellent, able to cancel out temperature surges.
It is precisely the specific method of laying the wood cement blocks that realises extraordinary thermal inertia performance of the building. ISOTEX formwork blocks are laid dry and then filled every 6 rows with concrete in order to create a solid wall with exceptional thermal inertia which can reduce to the minimum, inside the building, the change in temperature which lasts throughout the day. This radically affects living comfort because it keeps the temperature inside the rooms constant in both winter and summer and drastically reduces consumption for heating and cooling.

Top for thermal inertia. Isotex eliminates changes in temperature

The internal environment of a building, built using an Isotex building system, was tested by subjecting it to real thermal stress, assuming a winter day. A considerable change in temperature occurred over 24 hours (20 °C), in two adjacent rooms separated by a 25 cm Isotex wall. The Isotex performance was exceptional and the temperature change was imperceptible (0.04 °C), despite the external temperature range.

How the thermal inertia tests were carried out

The diagrams below have been obtained from experimental tests conducted in the laboratory.

Giordano institute thermal inertia test no. 12428

Temperature variation throughout the day in winter. The test starts at a temperature of 0°C in the two environments separated by an ISOTEX wall of 25 cm. One environment is brought to +10°C before falling to -10°C over the course of 24 hours. The variation in temperature recorded in the adjacent environment is imperceptible (approximately 0.04°C). The phase shift is over nine hours.

Temperature variation throughout the day in summer with 30 cm wall. The external environment of the wall changes from an initial +20°C to +45°C and then -5°C. The variation in temperature in the other environment is an imperceptible +1°C.

Energy efficiency legislation

The reference regulation is the Ministerial Decree of June 26, 2015 on energy efficiency, which implemented Law 90/13 and the provisions of the European Directive.

With the entry into force of the new Ministerial Decree 26 June 2015, Isotex products are further competitive, are compliant with energy efficiency regulations and the prescribed transmittance values. The National Association for Thermal and Acoustic Insulation has also produced for ISOTEX a technical manual for energy efficiency in compliance with the Ministerial Decree of 26/06/2015 in which all technical requirements are indicated.
