permeabilita aria

An aspect that is certainly not negligible for living comfort and the home micro-climate is steam passage through walls. Steam permeability is an important feature because it allows humidity control. It is an aspect that is sometimes neglected, even in highly insulated homes where the benefit of thermal insulation is negated by a poor hydrothermal balance of the building with the formation of condensation and humidity due to the lack of air exchange or the use of materials that are poorly permeable to steam.

The choice of materials with a low vapour resistance value avoids the formation of condensation and mould, especially in rooms where the percentage of steam is very high (bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms): the walls are not damaged and the right micro-climate is maintained for personal health and well-being.

Concrete wood and ribs, the secret of the Isotex block for breathable walls

ISOTEX blocks are made from wood cement, which has a very low resistance to steam μ=5.9. The ribs connecting the two walls of the formwork block form preferential channels through which steam passes. Neither concrete nor insulation is present in these ribs, which have much higher values of resistance to the passage of vapour than wood cement. This peculiarity, added to the complete absence of structural thermal bridges and adequate air circulation, equates to the total elimination of condensation and mould.

The ribs, which connect the inner wall to the outer wall of the wood cement block, preferential channels form for steam passage produced inside the dwelling.

blower door test

The Blower-Door-Test is a differential pressure measurement method that allows you to measure the airtightness of a building after imposing a certain pressure difference between inside and outside.

Air tightness.
No air leakage from walls, without heat loss

Walls built with ISOTEX blocks have been tested for air permeability with excellent results: there are no air leaks from the walls, therefore minimizing heat loss. Naturally, all the essential qualities of the outer encasing can be further preserved with the use of suitable openings and their installation.
