Alternate SHOULDER (SPALLA) blocks with half-blocks to realize the ‘shoulders’ of doorways and windows. Architraves for doors and windows are realized on site by cutting 30-38 cm SHOULDER blocks or 44 cm half-blocks. Doing so will eliminate thermal bridges. The reinforcing of the architrave must be indicated by the structure designer.
Corner reveals can be realized by cutting the SHOULDER blocks after concrete casting. However plastic anchors (as shown in the drawing) should be inserted before casting in order to avoid possible detachments during cutting. The same must be done to realize a reveal in the architrave above doorways and windows.
