A STEP FORWARD TOWARDS THE PLANET WITH THE NEW SUSTAINABLE INSERT MADE OF NEOPOR® BMB BY BASF

Isotex has always placed respect and protection for the environment and the planet at the heart of its construction system. What distinguishes us is an eco-sustainable approach applied to construction: for years we have included in our products the insulating insert made of BASF-Neopor® graphite, a material recognised throughout the world as a synonym for efficient thermal insulation of the highest quality. The Isotex blocks with BASF’s Neopor® insert reduce heat loss in winter and the entry of heat flows in summer, guaranteeing a reduction in energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions.

From 1 March 2021 we have taken a further step towards protecting the environment: all our products now come with the brand new BMB Neopor® inserts derived from certified sustainable biomass. The “greenlook of the new Isotex inserts is due to the use of Neopor® BMB, which is the Biomass Balance version of the traditional graphite-expandable polystyrene

WHAT IS BIOMASS?

Let’s start with a general concept: the term “biomass” refers to those organic materials – such as, for instance, waste from agro-food production, the organic fraction of urban solid waste, residues from the wood processing industry – that can be used or transformed. They are therefore renewable sources that have important advantages for the environment: their use preserves (non-renewable) fossil fuels and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 42%, therefore contributing to mitigating climate change and global warming.

BASF’s new “Biomass Balance” method fits into this context. From biomass we obtain bio-gas or bio-naphtha from which BASF’s Neopor ® BMB polystyrene originates.

What is the new Neopor® BMB (Biomass Balance Method)?

BASF’s brand new “Biomass Balance Method” is based on an ethical and sustainable approach to the production of Neopor® (expandable polystyrene): at the base of the production chain, fossil fuels are replaced by renewable resources such as bio-naphtha or biogas. This important upgrade testifies to the desire to promote a circular economy in the construction industry, an economic system designed to regenerate itself, thus ensuring environmental sustainability.

BMB not only helps to save primary fossil fuels, but also further improves the environmental profile of insulation products: CO2 emissions can be reduced by up to 42% compared to traditional Neopor® products. The eco-sustainability of the new production method is guaranteed by certifications. The Neopor® BMB raw material is certified and internationally recognized according to the REDcert2 scheme.

Advantages of Isotex products with the new Neopor® BMB inserts

icona riciclo

100% recycled wood and Neopor® BMB insulation insert made from a biomass derivative (organic waste), certified according to the REDcert2 scheme.

ico sostenibili

Savings in primary non-renewable fossil resources thanks to the use of biomass.

ico co2

Reduction in CO2 emissions from the production process of the material to its use in the building.

ico posa

Insulation insert of the same quality and technical properties as products already on the market but with superior characteristics in terms of environmental sustainability and circular economy.

icona bioedilizia

Construction of green buildings, reducing consumption and polluting emissions as required by the main sustainability protocols (LEED, EPD, FDES, ICEA-ANAB, etc.).

ico consegna

Guarantees that the material is always ready and available for on-site supply.

Isotex, for a green future

The adoption of this new insert is in line with our corporate mission: to build in full synergy with the environment. The introduction of sustainable energy into companies, whatever their field of action, implies a global approach: we believe it is a collective responsibility that concerns all stages of the production chain, including the end consumer.
